Streaming was hot. Payments IS hot.
AMC Networks’ former CFO Patrick O'Connell on Thursday was named the new CFO of OnePay, the digital banking and payments platform.
At OnePay, he will oversee finance, strategy, and long-term planning.
In a press release, OnePay CEO Omer Ismail said of O’Connell: “He’s exactly the kind of CFO you want when you’re building something that matters at scale.”
OnePay was founded by Walmart and Ribbit Capital. Earlier this year, the consumer-focused fintech hit a valuation of $4 billion, just a year and some change after it secured a $2.5 billion valuation via a $300 million investment round led by Walmart and Ribbit.
AMC announced O’Connell’s departure last week. He is staying on at AMC until March and will participate in the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call.
O’Connell joined AMC Networks as CFO in 2022. Prior to his time at AMC, he was the chief strategy officer at the London-based retailer BRANDE and executive vice president and head of corporate development for CBS.
OnePay’s former CFO, Laura Nadler, joined Early Warning, a financial services tech company, last October.
